Alliance Concrete Singapore Sets New Benchmark!

On 03 March 2015, the largest continuous concrete pour was completed on the MarinaOne Project. After 57 hours and over 2000 truckloads of continuous concrete pouring, construction crew laid down 18,000 cubic meter of concrete including 2,600 cubic meter of integral waterproofed concrete, beating the current record of 16,200 cubic meter set in 2014 on the Wilshire Grand project in Los Angeles, USA.

7 concrete pumps and 150 construction crew from project builder Hyundai-GS Joint Venture ensured that fresh concrete was being continuous poured into the massive 3200mm thick basement raft foundation. The high strength C32/40 concrete mix using low heat Portland Blastfurnace Cement was chilled to below 28 degree Celsius to minimize concrete thermal cracking risk.

This pour was extremely challenging due to its massive scale, from sourcing of the huge quantities of raw constituents materials to ensuring that the fresh concrete is chilled to meeting the stringent requirement. Altogether, a total of 42,000 tons of materials was used which is equivalent to 150 empty Airbus A380 passenger airliner.

The project is a mixed used development that is being developed by Malaysia’s strategic investment fund, Khazanah Nasional and Singapore’s investment company, Temasek. When completed in 2017, it will have two 34-storey residential towers, two 30-storey office tower and retail podium.
